Colorado Hiking Trails

Colorado is an outdoor lovers dream as there are so many stunning hiking trails to experience throughout the state. The difficulty of Colorado hiking trails range from extremely easy to very challenging and only for experienced hikers.

When is the best time to hike in Colorado?

I find that the best hiking season in Colorado is spring and summer. The mornings are still cool so if you get an early start you can beat the heat. Spring time of course also brings out some beautiful flowers which make hiking even more enjoyable. Boulder, Colorado is one of my favorite hiking locations and that is the part of Colorado I will be focusing on in this article.

Hiking Trail 1: Bald Mountain Scenic Area – Pine to Peak Loop Trail

This is a loop trail which is just a mile long. Beginners will enjoy this one but it will also be enjoyed by the intermediate to advanced hiker due to the wonderful scenery. The south side of Sunshine Canyon Drive is where this trail starts.

Hiking Trail 2: Betasso Preserve Canyon Loop Trail

Another loop trail, this one is 2.8 miles long. This trail involves some challenging climbing but the views are amazing. I would say this trail is good for intermediate and advanced hikers, beginners may want to practice elsewhere first.

Hiking Trail 3: Enchanted Mesa McClintock Trail Loop

1.8 miles long is this loop trail and you’ll love the views. The Flatiron Mountains are amazing to look at and on the way you’ll hike through pine forests where there are squirrels and lovely song birds. Find this trail near Chautauqua Park in Boulder.

These are just some of the trails you’ll find in Boulder, Colorado alone. The rest of the state has many more easy and challenging trails which we will cover on this site in future.
