I can think of at least 10 hiking trails in Arizona that are stunning, challenging and fun. And that is just the tip of the iceberg because Arizona contains so many trails that you’d probably need a whole year to get through them all, maybe more.
I’m going to list and talk about some of the best Arizona hiking trails in this article. I suggest trying at least a few of them out, but all of them would be even better as they all provide a unique experience and allow you to see parts of Arizona that you never even knew existed.
Havasu Canyon – Seligman, AZ
Havasu combines Native people with a spectacular natural setting. It is on a side canyon of the Grand Canyon and the Havasupai Indians are the local natives here and have been for several centuries. You’ll find amazing waterfalls here which fall into the Colorado River. Havasu Creek is also lovely with its blue tinged water.
Camelback Mountain Summit Trail – Phoenix, AZ
Camelback Mountain is a 2704 foot peak in the Phoenix Mountains. You’ll find easily accessible trails here and one of the most popular is the 1.16 mile Summit Trail hike. It is steep but the path is well maintained and takes you all the way to the top of Camelback Mountain.
Verde Hot Spring – Strawberry, AZ
Verde Hot Spring used to be a resort with hot springs. That doesn’t exist anymore but there are still pools available which contain hot water. It is only a one mile hike to reach this little spot which can become crowded but is still worth a visit.
Other great hikes in Arizona include:
- Four Peaks Mine – Phoenix, AZ
- Backway to Crown King – Phoenix, AZ
- Bright Angel Trail – Grand Canyon Village, AZ
- Boynton Canyon – Sedona, AZ
